Some exciting new developments...

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with the National Indigenous Radio Service (NIRS) allowing 4PeopleMedia access to some 183 metropolitan, regional and remote Indigenous stations. With national and statewide packages available, the NIRS allows us to speak specifically to Indigenous Australians across the country.

We’re also pleased to have both Pearson and Penguin books on board as sponsors for this year’s Express Media Awards at the Wheeler Centre on December 16. Recognising a range of young writers, the awards night will feature writers from a range of Express Media publications, and a special presenter appearance from John Marsden! For information about Express Media visit http://www.expressmedia.org.au

Speaking of new partnerships, some new radio stations have joined our group. Please say hello to Life FM in Adelaide (http://www.life.on.net), Gippsland FM in Victoria (http://www.3gcrfm.org.au) and 2SSR FM in the Sutherland Shire of NSW (http://www.2ssr.com.au). Speaking of Christmas, it’s coming round early in Melbourne’s CBD thanks to the City of Melbourne. Put your letter to Santa in the post box at City Square with your name and return address to get a reply from the man himself! http://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/christmas
The City of Melbourne are also looking for input into their Urban Forestry Strategy and Urban Space Strategy looking to the future. To get involved visit http://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/parks

And finally we’re sad to be saying goodbye to our friend Emma Sharp who has been so very helpful at SYN over the past few years. Emma’s moving onto even bigger challenges and leaves behind her a great little team at Melbourne’s youth station. Good luck Emma!

And farewell to Glenn McColl at 3RPP who finishes up this week after many years of service to the station and their community. He is venturing to warmer weather in Queensland, and we wish him a safe journey.

There are a few shuffles taking place in radio personnel around the sector moving toward the end of the year. So if you’ve been thinking about getting involved in your local station, now’s an excellent time to look into both on air and administrative opportunities.
