CBAA Conference

It’s that time of the year again when one of the big events on the community broadcasting calendar comes around: the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia annual conference kicks off November 17 to 20.

This year’s conference will be held at the Holiday Inn on the Gold Coast and provides an excellent opportunity for members of the broadcast sector to share ideas, participate in workshops, experience new technologies and learn how to better engage with communities.

4PeopleMedia’s Claire Stuchbery and Lyndelle Wilkinson will be attending the conference with Claire participating in the sponsorship discussion and presentation - if you are attending, please make sure you come and say hello!

The annual Voxie Awards will be staged again at this year’s CBAA Conference. The Voxies recognise the achievements of stations and their volunteers, both on and off the air. 4PeopleMedia would like to congratulate the stations we represent, who have been nominated for awards this year. For outstanding youth contribution, SYN’s Joe Toohey and OCR FM’s Jonathan Graham. 3CR’s ‘Small Talk’ best new program or content initiative. For excellence in community participation PBS FM, OCR FM and 3CR are in the running whilst SYN, JOY and Radio Adelaide are in the running to win the award for best development in digital radio. Hobart FM, 4ZZZ and 2SER are also in the mix to win awards this year too.

In other news, WYN FM presenters Jesse Nieborski and Sasuke Kirkham of ‘The JK Show’ gathered 40 of their loyal listeners and took a bus 12 hours to K Pop Music Festival 2011 in Sydney last Saturday. The 40 Korean pop fans spent a further 12 hours at ANZ Stadium cheering on their favourite idols only to get back on the bus and head home for the return 12 hour journey. Tired but satisfied, the young men marched right back to the WYN studios to prepare their Monday and Thursday night program which airs 10pm to 1am. Troopers!
