Turn your radio up loud...

Written by Claire Monday, 30 April 2012 02:00

It’s a little quiet in the 4PeopleMedia office this morning following a loud, loud day at the Cherry Rock Festival yesterday. So we’ll have to turn the radio up loud to hear some of these great radio campaigns:

The Blues Train launched the Train Trax Vol 3 compilation at Queenscliff on Friday night to a rollicking crowd from all accounts. The compilation is receiving airplay from community radio around the country at the moment. It features tracks from Shaun Kirk, Andrea Marr, Charlie Parr, Luke Watt, Mr Black & Blues, Hamilton Loomis, Claude Hay, Matt Andersen, Cass Eager, Louis King, The Tuff Tones, Dreamboogie, Wayne Jury, Marisa Quigley, Tom Richardson & Eddie Boyle, 8 Ball Aitken, Jarrah Thompson, The Mojo Corner and Jimi Hocking. You can pick up a copy of this Blues Train souvenir from http://www.thebluestrain.com.au

The City of Melbourne are calling for applications for this round of Community Grants from individual athletes, sports groups, aspiring artists and community groups who are eligible for funding. To review the criteria visit http://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/grantsandsponsorship

A little bit of housekeeping news for people in the Hunter Valley and if you tune into 2CHR FM then you will hear an announcement about it. The Newcastle Link will be closed on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week for roadworks, so best to avoid that route later this week.

Our friends in Canberra, UC FM and 2XX FM are giving away tickets to The Darkness show at ANU Bar this week, so tune into the rock and metal shows if you’re in our capital city for your chance to win! Or you can just buy tickets at http://www.mcmanusentertainment.com/?module=events&action=showact&id=113

And speaking of giveaways for happy listeners, keep on ear on 2GLF and 2RDJ in Sydney, 3RPP on the Mornington Peninsula, Hobart FM in Hobart and KLFM in Bendigo over the next couple of weeks if you’re into Irish and Celtic music. The Celtic and folk shows on those stations will have copies of the Celtic Woman release, just out from EMI, to giveaway over the next couple of weeks.

Back to the arts in Melbourne, the Red Stitch Actors Theatre presents The Laramie Project – 10 Years Later explores the erosion of truth over time at the Arts Centre. For more information about this important piece of theatre, visit http://www.artscentremelbourne.com.au/whats-on/event.aspx?id=2777

And if you’re in Northern NSW, you might be interested in getting involved with Australian Volunteers International. The organisations next information session will be held at the Lismore City Hall on May 10. Head to http://www.australianvolunteers.com to register for the information night or hear all about it in the lead up to the night on Big Country Radio or 2NCR River FM.

Plenty going on on your radio dial this week!
